Article.1 Copyright Notice

Copyright of this Database belongs to the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention. The copyright contents of each hazard map or related materials also belong to each publisher. Please contact each individual publisher concerning the contents of each hazard map or related material.

Article.2 Utilization Limit
  1. Alteration of data by users (including alteration of files) is prohibited.
  2. Copy, distribution, and transfer of files and data from this database are prohibited.
  3. The use of this database against law, cabinet order, regulation and departmental instruction is prohibited. In addition, using this database to encroach on another’s right of offend public order and moral, is prohibited.
  4. If any of the above terms and conditions is violated, your use of this database could be limited.
  5. As for all other matters concerning these terms and conditions, please refer to NIED The commercial use of this database requires prior permission from Servies Group, National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention.

  1. This database also keeps records of previous versions of the materials for the purpose of preservation, research, and so on. Please confirm the publishing date before use.
  2. The volcanic hazard maps and reference materials are not always the latest. There may be some discrepancies between the data and the present situation as time go on. It is necessary to be aware of it when using this database.
  3. As for the contents of each material and the latest information on publications, please refer to each publisher.
Article.5 Service
  1. This database provides two kinds of data for either browsing or printing. If you wish to print out our data, please register onto our database. Registration is free however users must pay for the access fee during database usage.
  2. This site does not provide software for data usage. Please prepare your own suitable software.
  3. The image data contained in this database is almost in an PDF format. Each PDF is customized by Acrobat 8 and over.
  4. Please be aware when you view or download large-size file. There is a possibility that the PC might freeze or take a long time to download.

  1. Users are responsible for any damage caused by themselves or a third party as a result of using this database.
  2. We, NIED, are not responsible for any damage which may occur to users as a result of using the database on the website.

  1. Personal information means any private information which can be used to identify a person by name, address, position (affiliation), email address, etc.

Acceptance of Reproduction and Use of Products of the Basic Location Survey of the Geographical Survey Institute (now the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan)

The maps in this database reproduce and use the products of a basic location survey conducted by the Geographical Survey Institute, with the approval of the Institute.

The maps are created by reproducing 1:1,000,000 Maps of Japan, 1:500,000 District Maps, 1:200,000 Regional Maps, 1:50,000 and 1:25,000 Topographic Maps, 1:5,000 Volcanic Base Maps, and Digital Maps 25,000 (Map Image) published by the Geological Survey Institute, with the approval of the Institute's Director (Approval No. 1017, So-Fuku, 2005; No. 1012, So-Fuku, 2006; No. 3688, So-Fuku, 2007).

The aerial photographs are created by reproducing images from the Geological Survey with the approval of the Institute's Director (Approval No. 1017, So-Fuku, 2005).

The maps use 1:200,000 Regional Maps, 1:50,000 and 1:25,000 Topographic Maps, Digital Maps 250 m, 50 m and 5 m Grid (Elevation), and Digital Maps 10 m Grid (Elevation of Active Volcanos) published by the Geological Survey Institute, with the approval of the Institute's Director (Approval No. 750, So-Shi, 2005; No. 573, So-Shi, 2006).
